This is our second release of our brand new carbon fiber decals. These are the Gunmetal Carbon Fiber release.  We've wanted to add these to our growing offerings of decals and one again we have used our own uniques design to allow these decals to provide some special end results. These have been specifically developed to achieve that subtle color variations we see on some race cars.  Sometimes the carbon fiber on the real cars will have a brownish, dark yellow, dark orange near dark copper tint and these decals are the foundation to achieve those realistic results.  By mixing primary colors of clears, red, blue and yellow, along with smoke you can achieve these different shades. This shading is achieved by airbrushing your mixture over the decals after they have been applied to your build.
We had these produced using a slightly lighter gunmetal color that our Classic Carbon Fiber decals so you can achieve these special results. You can also top coat them with any color of clear if you are building something when you want to be more creative, as an example, building a modern hotrod or custom street car. You can also top coat them with plain clear to use them as is or with using only a smoke colored
clear to tone them down.  Using a clear that is satin or flat in your mixture can provide even more realism.  Not all carbon fiber is super glossy, many of them do have a toned down sheen which is a result of the manufacturing process used when making the real car. This could be due to the base epoxy used with the carbon fiber, the use of an autoclave and it's temperature or that the carbon fiber was a pre-preg composite. There are many factors and the purpose of these decals is to help you achieve those ultra realistic results.
We recommend top coating them with your color mixture to give them their proper depth of color to achieve the exact look you want. Instructions are provided, but as always, we recommend you start with your normal procedure when applying decals.  Do a small test on a scrap part that doesn't matter and see how these react.  Once you are happy with the process you will use, then go ahead and apply them to your model. These decals are suitable for 1/12th and 1/8th scale models, come in sealed packaging to
persevere
freshness so they require no expiration date.
These are water-slide decals with a useable image are of 4 1/2" x 7 3/8" and this converts to 11.4 cm x 18.75 cm if you work with the metric system. So, these new decals are as large or a bit larger than competitors decals and are available at a considerably lower price.
