these pieces WERE NOT released to banks
, ONLY to licenced dealers for purpose of coin collecting & investment.
Hence, they are extremely low mintage, EVEN AS SCARCE AS THE 2012 EL YUNQUE PROOF QUARTER, and thus expected to become highly collectible & rise in value over time. THESE SAN FRANCISCO QUARTERS
were minted on regular, circulation type, Business Strike single punch presses, making it very difficult to get a single pristine coin out of a stack of them, as unlike Proof coins, which never touch each other, business strike coins en up thrown into a coin pile, scratching each other along the way. This is why modern
uncirculated coins usually go up in value faster and more steadily than smaller mintage proof issues
